Current Scheduling:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Weekends.

All students will study solos – from Suzuki methods or published elsewhere, band music, scales, intervals, arpeggios, flute method studies, etudes, solos, theory, duets and various flute ensemble music.

I will make jazz methods available to those who are interested.

Teaching methods can be slightly varying for each student depending on their strengths and weaknesses.

I expect students to take on solos that I assign, and allow for them to choose pieces of their own musical tastes. Playing by ear and sight-reading will be encouraged as much as possible.

Physical aspects of playing the flute are fully brought into lessons, such as posture, hand position, fingering and breathing issues.

All music and notebooks are expected to be brought to each lesson, even if they are not used at each lesson. Selected music for study with the student may cost up to fifty dollars annually
